No one wants to have to replace their roof prematurely.
As a homeowner, the last thing that you probably want to do is to have to replace your roof before it is due, but unfortunately, if you don’t take proper care of your roof, that is exactly what will happen. Your roof is what protects you from extreme weather and sunshine, and because it is exposed to all of the elements, there are many things that make it vulnerable to damage. Luckily, there are many things that you can do to fight back against the damage, and our roofers in Plano are here to help!
Tips to keep your roof in great shape:
- Clear the debris – When there are large piles of leaves and other debris, moisture can easily become trapped onto your roof, which can leave you with mold and water damage. Keep debris off of your roof and out of your gutters and downspouts to allow for proper drainage.
- Keep your trees trimmed – Spring and summer are often full of thunderstorms that can cause swaying branches to break off and damage your home. By keeping your trees trimmed, you can not only prevent loose branches from damaging your home, but you will also experience fewer leaves in your gutters.
- Make sure you have proper ventilation – Ventilation is what helps to keep the air moving and the temperature cool in your attic. If your attic is sealed, the high temperatures can actually cause the materials in your roof to start breaking down prematurely.
- Get your roof inspected – There is no substitute for professional roof inspections, and you should have your roof inspected at least once a year.
